Leading Edge Waterjet Ltd. is a manufacturing company that is being established to capitalize on the growing market for precision water-jet cutting services. The markets served by this technology are diverse and include such sectors as architecture, automotive, tool & die, metal fabrication, signage, and flooring.

The concept behind Leading Edge Waterjet Ltd. was conceived by company founder Matthew Challice following a period of employment with a small manufacturer. Matthew is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist with a keen entrepreneurial drive and a passion for business.

During Matthew’s tenure with this firm he worked first hand with the technology and developed a high degree of expertise in all aspects of physical water-jet modeling and related software applications. He was quick to identify where efficiencies could be made, improve workflow practices, and move this aspect of the firm’s operations toward a lucrative state of profitability.

Realizing that there was a growing market to be addressed, and one that could frequently be better served, Matthew set out to establish Leading Edge Waterjet Ltd.

Joining him in the venture is Mark Carr, an industry veteran of the metals fabrication sector. Mark has ten years in the manufacturing sector and brings with him an expert knowledge of the CAD process. Mark shares Matthew’s ability to maximize manufacturing efficiencies while recognizing the importance of maintaining superior customer relations.

Since completing the Mechanical Engineering Technician program at Conestoga College 10 years ago, Mark has been in constant demand providing dedicated solutions to firms requiring professional CAD work. Mark’s background has ranged from work with large format steel press applications to current laser cutting technologies. An enthusiastic professional, Mark stays current with the latest technology in the sector, including courses in 3D modeling software. He is looking forward to delivering the advantages of water-jet cutting to the manufacturers in Guelph, or wherever it may be needed.
